Secondary School Education Program
Education programs can be customised to meet the needs of individual school groups. Programs are designed with a curriculum (AusVELS and VCE/VCAL ) focus to fit the duration of your visit and are most suited to students in Years 9 – 12.
A program can include the following:
- Sights and Sounds multimedia show covering the background to the Vietnam War, major battles, and experiences of those who were involved (20-minutes)
- guided tour of the Museum. Highlights include: theConscription barrel, USA Missing in Action bracelets, weapons and vehicle displays, confronting artworkcreated by Peter O’Neill during treatment forPost-Traumatic Stress Disorder, uniforms and numerous dioramas.
- viewing of Vietnam war images, documentaries and special temporary exhibits
- specialised Power Point presentation, such as about Private Errol Noack, the first conscripted soldier killed in Vietnam and the reaction to his death
- a chance to handle equipment and uniforms issued to Vietnam forces
- the opportunity to walk up the ramp into a Caribou aircraft to learn how it was involved in the war.
Worksheets are available from the website for students to use during the visit and in follow-up classes.
Museum entry fee is $10 per student.
